OUR SERVICES

The support offered by Beacon Care Group is led by an experienced management team all of whom have a long history of working with children in residential care.  Our service also  benefits from the input of a registered psychologist with a background in working with young people in mental health services as well as childrens residential care and specialist services for children presenting with challenging behaviour.  As a result, we offer a service that is inclusive of psychological formulation that offer us a shared understanding of the young person's needs and inform our interventions.

HOW WE WORK

Our service as a whole delivers an Attachment and Trauma informed model of care. We utilise the ARC framework which is a psychological model developed by Blaustein & Kinniburgh (2010 & 2019) and is designed to support individuals that have experienced complex or developmental trauma.  ARC is a flexible framework that is sensitive to individual developmental needs.  We ensure that our chosen way of working with young people is embedded within our service by training staff in our model of care and providing regular supervision and reflective practice for the whole staff team.

The ARC framework offers the opportunity to make targeted interventions that meet developmental needs and supports and promotes individual growth.  It enables staff to make planned efforts to provide consistent responses by establishing routines and developing relationships that promote a felt sense of environmental and psychological safety.  The ARC framework is inclusive of the whole team and gives individuals and teams a foundation upon which they can support young people to learn the skills and personal competencies that enable growth.

PACE

Within the overarching framework of the ARC model we apply principles from Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), this means that we use the PACE approach with our young people.  The PACE model facilitates relationships between the adults that work with our young people by prescribing an adult stance of Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy (Hughes, 2007).  In this way we create an attachment-based milieu that supports post traumatic growth through a corrective experience that is supported by healthy relationships.

Our model of care is delivered by staff who are present day and night every day of the year.  We provide individualised plans for every child in our care and work in close partnership with local authorities, stakeholders and families to identify how we can best meet the needs of the young people in our care.
